There's a lesson here for the US. In some ways we are better off than Europe--we did apply some fiscal help to the economy even if it wasn't enough and our monetary policy has been in the right direction. But in other ways we are worse off--our infrastructure is in worse shape and one of our political parties seems bent on a destructive fiscal path if they manage to get into office.
