Dubrovnik and Pula

Two stops in Croatia. In Dubrovnik which is a very old town and in Pula, which was a prominent sea port during the Austro-Hungarian empire. Dubrovnik has an old walled city, which has largely been restored and extensive city walls. I was less impressed by Dubrovnik than I expected to be. It was cute, but everything looked the same. Pula on the other hand allowed one to see the progression of people who ruled Pula from the Romans through Tito.

Here are some photos from Dubrovnik. We walked about half way around the wall. That was all we could take.

And an interesting basketball court.

Pula has one of the largest remaining Roman amphitheatres (don't dare call it a colosseum). It's made entirely from stone, not that cheap brick covered with marble like the Colosseum in Rome. Here are some photos of the amphitheatre and some buildings from our walking tour.
